1. Scope
This policy applies to your account as a rider or driver, your use of our marketing website, and your use of the Soomk mobile experience linked to the platform. We may update this policy; please check the “Last updated” date above.
2. Information we collect
We collect what is needed to operate the service. This may include:
- Account data: name, phone number, email when you register, and credentials stored using industry-standard protections.
- Driver profile & vehicle: vehicle and verification details when required for onboarding or display in the app.
- Trip & booking data: cities and areas, route timing, service type (shared ride, shipment, etc.), bids and prices, seat bookings on driver routes, and booking status or cancellations.
- Location: with your permission, approximate or precise location to show nearby requests to drivers or improve matching, according to your device settings.
- Support & contact: messages you send through contact forms or support channels.
- Technical & security: device identifiers, limited usage logs, and IP addresses for security, fraud prevention, and reliability.
- Ratings: feedback you submit about the other party after a trip, as shown in the app.
3. How we use information
- Create and authenticate your account and secure sessions.
- Connect riders and drivers, run requests, bids, and seat bookings on routes.
- Send operational notifications about bookings, offers, or status changes, where you have agreed or where necessary.
- Improve the product using aggregated insights that do not identify you individually.
- Comply with Jordanian law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- Prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service.
4. Legal bases & consent
We process data to perform our contract with you, for legitimate interests in operating a safe marketplace, to meet legal obligations, or based on your consent where required (for example, certain marketing communications if we offer them).
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Limited sharing may occur:
- Between users: information needed to complete a trip (such as timing and pickup context) as surfaced in the app.
- Service providers: hosting, email, analytics, or operational tools under confidentiality commitments.
- Authorities: when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
6. Retention & deletion
We keep data as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal requirements, and resolve disputes. You may request account deletion or corrections via our account & data deletion page (OTP verification for riders and drivers), or via support@soomk.com, subject to ongoing legal duties (such as accounting records where applicable).
7. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No system is perfectly secure; please protect your login details and tell us immediately about unauthorized access.
8. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to:
- Access or understand how we use your data.
- Request correction or updates.
- Object to certain processing or withdraw consent where relevant.
- Lodge a complaint with a competent authority in Jordan when available.
9. Children
Soomk is not directed to children under 18 without a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. International transfers
We aim to process data in secure environments. If providers are located outside Jordan, we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection consistent with applicable law.
